essor は飛躍、飛翔の意味
これもナシム・タレブの「Le Hasard Sauvage」から見つけた文。和文では「まぐれ」、英文では「Fooled by Randomness」のタイトルで出ている。
英文が全然読めなかった頃、とにかく読破することを目標にわからなくても音読してところどころ辞書を調べながら読んだ最初の本が「Fooled by Randomness」だから、思い出がある。
いまはそれをフランス語版でしている。
英文で印象的だったのは、
As I am writing these lines I am on a slow train in the Alps, comfortably shielded from traveling businesspesrnons. People around me are either students or retired persons, or those who do not have "important appointments", hence not afraid of what they call wasted time.
7.5時間かけてミュンヘンからミラノに電車で行くという回想のシーン。
フランス語版でもそのうち同じところを読むことになるだろうが、もうしばらくかかりそう。
